Water Supervisor Bert Cooper has announced his retirement after 24 years with the District. During his tenure he held positions in both the Water and Wastewater Departments and gained valuable knowledge and experience in nearly every facet of the organization. Cooper began working for the District in 2001 as a Utility Operator and rose through the ranks as a Crew Leader, Assistant Water Supervisor and ultimately Water Supervisor.

He provided leadership and direction for water personnel who carry out the daily operation and preventative maintenance of the District High Pressure Pump Station and distribution system. He also ensured the District remained in compliance with environmental laws, regulations and permits to protect the natural resources in our community.

Originally from South Africa, Cooper’s family moved to Trophy Club in the late 90s. Prior to joining the District, he was a small business owner. As both a Trophy Club resident and employee, he has witnessed the tremendous growth of this area over the years. He also experienced several facility and infrastructure improvements, including the expansion and upgrade of the Wastewater Treatment Plant and implementation of automatic read water meters.

“During his career, Cooper has inspected, repaired, installed or maintained most of the water/wastewater system in Trophy Club and Westlake,” said Alan Fourmentin, District General Manager. “His historical knowledge specific to this community, strong work ethic, and dedication to this organization will be hard to replace.”

Cooper has obtained Ground Water Treatment Operator B and Wastewater Treatment Operator C licenses. He previously held certifications as a Wastewater Collections Operator and Backflow Prevention Assembly Tester.

Please join us in showing our appreciation for his years of dedication to the District and wishing Bert a happy retirement.
