The wastewater collection system is the infrastructure most people never see. It’s imperative that it provides reliable service because wastewater problems really stink.
 

Construction crews will be in Trophy Club to make improvements to wastewater lines and manholes in what we call Basin 11 and portions of Basin 1. The issues were identified during the FY26 annual wastewater system analysis. Work is expected to begin on July 27 and will take place Monday through Friday between the hours of 7 a.m. – 5 p.m. The work does not require residents to be home and will not disrupt your water or wastewater service.
 

Manholes may be in your front yard, back yard or your driveway. If you know that you have a manhole in your backyard, please verify gates are unlocked, your pets are inside and remove items from the top such as flowerpots or bird baths.
Repairs will be made to 26 manholes that will reinforce the integrity of the structure. This work ranges from removing roots, cleaning manhole walls, recoating the interior or replacing covers.  
 

Starting the week of Aug. 17, ten point repairs will be made to wastewater lines. A point repair generally consists of applying a sleeve or small patch to create a seal in order to repair a leak or crack rather than replacing the entire pipe.

The District prioritizes evaluating the wastewater collection system each year in different parts of Trophy Club and Westlake. Over time, as the wastewater infrastructure ages, water other than wastewater can also enter the collection system through broken pipes or faulty manholes. This is called Inflow and Infiltration, better known as I&I in the water industry. I&I is the most recognized cause of the deterioration of wastewater infrastructure.
